The following acts have been booked to appear at the Southampton Jazz Club. The act booked and the line-up of each band is, of course, subject to change.

21 January 2019 – Asaf Sirkis / Sylwia Bialas International Quartet

Israeli UK-resident drummer/composer Asaf Sirkis and Polish vocalist/composer extraordinaire Sylwia Bialas will be supported by Scottish bassist Kevin Glasgow, and the acclaimed Frank Harrison on piano and keyboards.

18 February Tim Whitehead

UK saxophonist Tim Whitehead plays a winter tour. It will develop the cohesion of a new quartet, adding a world-renowned jazz pianist, Giovanni Mirabassi into the mix to ‘creatively disrupt’ that process.

10 March – Picante Latin Quartet

Neil Angilley (piano), Andy Staples (bass) and Marc Cecil (drums) and featuring the saxophone of Derek Nash.

21 AprilGabrielle Ducomble

Gabrielle Ducomble is a Belgian-born vocalist and composer, renowned for her pure, beautiful voice, which combines sophistication and powerful emotion. She has earned wide acclaim for her Parisian jazz and tango arrangements, presenting a fresh, contemporary take on iconic songs by the likes of Piaf, Piazzolla, Legrand, and Brel. Her band includes guitar virtuoso Nicolas Meier.

19 May – Southampton Youth Jazz Orchestra

16 June – Martin Speake and Alyson Crawley Quintet

Alto saxophonist Martin Speake – who includes Charlie Parker, Paul Motian, Lee Konitz, Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman and Rabih Abou Khalil amongst his major influences – has developed a personal musical voice that expresses a deep understanding of the history and language of Jazz. The quintet comprises some of London’s most dynamic and sought after young jazz musicians including Alyson Cawley on tenor saxophone. 

21July – Greg Abate with the Carassco Band

Grey Abate, saxophonist, flautist and composer, is a global phenomenon and International recording artist. This Southampton gig will be part of his UK tour.  

18 August – Graham Harvey Trio

Pianist Graham Harvey plays with Dave Chamberlain on bass and Sebastiaan de Krom on drums. A swinging trio very much in the mould of the great Ray Brown ensembles of the ’90s.
